Puppy & Kitten Wellness Care

emergencies

Camrose Veterinary Hospital provides puppy and kitten wellness care from 6 weeks of age to 16 weeks of age. Our puppy and kitten wellness visits contain a full physical exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, and deworming. We can also discuss questions you may have regarding pet nutrition, training, or dental care.

Puppy & Kitten Vaccinations

To maximize vaccination protection, it will be necessary to administer the vaccinations in a series. These are core vaccines, which are recommended for all puppies and kittens. Additional vaccines may need to be included based on lifestyle and exposure risk to disease.

Puppy Vaccinations

We recommend the following core puppy vaccines:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper
  • Parvovirus

Kitten Vaccinations

We recommend the following core kitten vaccines:

  • Rabies
  • Panleukopenia
  • Feline herpes virus and calicivirus
  • Leukemia

Worm & Parasite Treatment

In addition, your new pet will be tested and treated for worms. Puppies and kittens can pick up worms and parasites from their mother as well as from contact with infected fecal matter. Worms and parasites can cause gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting or diarrhea. We will perform a fecal test and apply treatment accordingly.

Spaying & Neutering

Camrose Veterinary Hospital performs spaying and neutering surgical services for dogs and cats. Your pet’s safety and comfort are very important to us, and we utilize the latest in pain management and anesthesia techniques.

We recommend female puppies and kittens be spayed at 6–12 months of age to prevent pregnancy. Additionally, this maximizes the health benefits to your pet by decreasing her chances of developing breast cancer and uterine infections.

We recommend male puppies and kittens be neutered at 6–12 months of age. The main purpose of neutering is to prevent the development of unwanted aggressive behaviour, testicular cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and controlling the pet population.

Please contact us to schedule an appointment. We look forward to meeting the new addition to your family.
